Prescribing a DAFO

Whether writing a prescription as a result of an initial meeting with a patient, or at the request of a patient’s therapist or orthotist, it is important to include a few key terms. Be sure to reference “Cascade Dafo, No Substitutions” in the script to ensure your patient receives the benefits and support that only a DAFO® can provide. Necessary prescription verbiage should also include the phrase “Bilateral AFOs until outgrown” (unless of course you are prescribing for one side only). In most cases, there is no need to indicate the type of control the device will provide in the prescription language. Using these key phrases in your prescription will allow other members of the clinical team the freedom to choose from the variety of Cascade Dafo braces available for your patient.
