6.1 Heel control pad
- Added crescent-shaped contour above the heel to help prevent heel rise.
- Order at time of fabrication if heel pistoning is expected.

- Adjustable screw-type stop.
- Approximately 5° range of adjustment (fragile when in full extension).

6.3 Heel wedge
- Gives the patient full heel contact with floor when braced in a plantarflexed position.
- Small amounts can help fine-tune a DAFO for knee hyperextension.
Request in Special Instructions section of order form (e.g., “Add heel wedge to bring tibia to 2° DF.”). You can also request the wedge to be sent as a separate piece, not attached to the brace.

- Similar to the heel wedge but with a smaller point of contact.
- Can be increased with layers of duct tape or sanded down to fine-tune function.

6.5 Posterior shim pad
- Tapered ¼ in. shim pad.
- May be used to increase DF; use in place of the standard 1/8 in. cuff.
